Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms with sterilized dental instruments and equipment, ensuring compliance with infection prevention management and aseptic techniques.
- Assist dentists during oral surgeries and prosthodontics treatments by handling dental instruments, suctioning, and maintaining a clear operative field.
- Take and develop dental x-rays, including 3D scans when applicable.
- Manage patient records accurately using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring proper documentation of medical history, vital signs, and treatment notes.
- Provide patient care by explaining procedures, managing patient comfort, taking vital signs, and addressing questions about dental terminology or procedures.
- Ensure all dental sterilization procedures are followed meticulously for instruments and equipment to maintain clinical safety standards.
- Support the dental reception team by managing patient flow, scheduling appointments in patient management software, and facilitating effective communication between patients and clinical staff.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant or Dental Surgical Assistant in a busy dental clinic environment.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for efficient medical documentation and record keeping.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols aligned with healthcare infection prevention and control expertise.
- Hands-on experience with dental x-ray techniques including intraoral imaging and 3D scanning technology.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology related to general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow efficiency.
- Excellent communication skills for patient management and collaboration with the dental team while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
