POSITION GOAL
To provide support for the design, delivery and effectiveness of the Title I School Based Parent Involvement Programs and activities associated with the Program as outlined under Section 1118 of NCLB. To help students meet or exceed learning goals and to master skills for continued schooling or work (Florida Statutes, 1002.38)
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
The principle duties and responsibilities of the position of Title I Paraprofessional II, School Based-Parent Liaison includes an assigned combination of the following, depending on the specialty, administrative organization and district curriculum improvement plan.
1. *Assist in maintaining a timely, viable, active and effective Title I Parent Education Program as required by Section 1118 of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2002.
2. Attend and participate in Parent Involvement Regional Contact meetings, staff meetings, workshops and training sessions for program effectiveness and compliance.
3. *Work with the principal to ensure all Title I parent involvement laws and policies are implemented.
4. *Survey families in the assigned Title I school to determine specific parent involvement needs.
5. *Work with the principal to ensure Title I families are informed about Title I services and the eligibility requirements for Title I services.
6. *Provide activities for engaging parents in helping their child/children succeed in school, and provide assistance to parents in understanding information concerning general student expectations.
7. *Implement school-based parent outreach activities related to the instructional objectives of the Family Education Program.
8. Maintain a strong and current knowledge base of research and materials that may be recommended to parents.
9. Encourage parents to utilize leadership skills through the District’s advisory councils.
10. *Work with the principal to maintain current research-based resources related to literacy instruction for educationally disadvantaged children.
11. *Abide by all procedures and policies of the school board, state rules and laws, and other governing laws and rules.
12. *Provide school-based support and coordination of the program to teachers regarding the design and implementation of the parent outreach activities with appropriate documentation for annual evaluations of all implemented programs.
13. *Collaborate with the District Parent Liaison, Title I to ensure that special program efforts are consistent with the goals of the district school curriculum in Title I.
14. *Work with the principal to implement annual meetings to which all parents of participating children are invited to explain Title I and district Title I programs.
15. *Maintain current and accurate records, logs and reports for effective communication, documentation, departmental statistics, accountability, and annual program evaluation to determine what, if any, action need be taken to increase parental participation and reporting as required by the District, State, and Federal regulations.
16. *Coordinate Title I Parent Involvement Programs with other school parent involvement programs in order to utilize available resources and avoid duplication of services.
17. *Present a positive and professional image of the school/district to parents and the community.
18. *Keep in confidence personally identifiable information obtained in the course of professional service, unless disclosure serves professional purposes or is required by law.
19. Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal related to Title I Parent Involvement.
