INNOVATION ZONE CLASSROOM TEACHER & TECHNOLOGY COORDINATOR
Job Description
Under the direction of the school principal, the classroom teacher is responsible for supporting the school and the Diocese of Bridgeport in its mission. He/she is to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing diocesan approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc. Educators are engaged in a school conducted by the Roman Catholic Church for the express purpose of education in the academic, social, moral and religious values promulgated by the Church.
This course is a hands-on science and technology course designed to introduce PK-Grade 3 students to foundational science concepts and technology skills. The Innovation Zone Teacher must have strong classroom management skills, demonstrate creativity and initiative in creating age-appropriate lessons, and activities and in seeking curriculum resources to scaffold the course.
In addition to providing classroom instruction for students, the Innovation Zone Teacher serves as the building’s Technology Coordinator. This requires a strong understanding of educational technology. The Technology Coordinator manages the physical hardware and software used throughout the building, including Google accounts, Clever accounts, and all Chromebooks, iPads, and laptops.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Working knowledge of and a strong commitment to the mission of fostering lay leadership in the Catholic Church.
- Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, public speaking, and presentation skills.
- Excellent human relations and interpersonal skills; must be a self-starter and be well-organized; must be a team player.
- Proficiency in the use of computer technology and related educational technology
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve common technical issues in a timely manner
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Practicing Roman Catholic, in good standing
- Demonstrated experience teaching in a Catholic School
- Successful prior teaching experience
- Experience with device management (e.g., Chromebooks, iPads, laptops)
- Familiarity with educational software, assessment platforms, and classroom technology tools
