Job Title: Direct Support Professional for an Easygoing Young Nonverbal Man
Job Description: We are seeking a 1:1 support person to support an autistic adult in Westchester
Location: Irvington, NY
Pay: $30/hour via FI (Yedei Chesed) - candidate would need to be onboarded with FI
Hours: Saturdays from 8am - 4pm (8 hours)
Job Requirements:
- Experience as a caregiver for a young adult with disabilities
- Experience working with people with minimal language and non-speakers
- Willingness to be flexible and creative to support adults with various needs and challenges
- Ability to model appropriate behavior
- Strong communication skills
- Have reliable transportation and clean driving record
- Pass background check
- Must be responsible and punctual
Job Responsibilities
Your responsibilities may include some or all of the following tasks:
- Engage the client in activities like going to the farmer's market, visiting museums, and going on walks
- Collaborate with family and team for consistent care
- Assist with daily living skills (ADLs) to ensure individual stays safe
- Communicate with client via letter board - willing to pay for training for the right candidate
