Assistant Director of Plant Operations
Location: Sunharbor Manor, Roslyn Heights, NY

Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Plant Operations supports the Director in overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, safety, and regulatory compliance of the facility’s physical plant in a skilled nursing environment. This role ensures a safe, functional, and compliant environment for residents, staff, and visitors in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in managing all plant operations, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety systems, and general maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with CMS, OSHA, NFPA Life Safety Code, and state Department of Health requirements.
- Support emergency preparedness programs, drills, and training.
- Oversee preventive maintenance programs and maintain accurate records.
- Assist in managing vendors and contractors.
- Conduct environmental rounds to ensure safety and compliance.
- Supervise maintenance staff, including scheduling and performance management.
- Ensure proper testing of fire alarm and life safety systems.
- Assist with budgeting and inventory control.
- Participate in surveys and ensure timely correction of deficiencies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred.
- 3–5 years of plant operations or maintenance experience, preferably in healthcare.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of building systems and healthcare regulations.
- Ability to read technical documents and blueprints.
Certifications (Preferred)
- CHFM (Certified Healthcare Facility Manager)
- Fire Safety / Life Safety Certification
- HVAC, electrical, or plumbing certifications
