Overview
Join our dynamic manufacturing team as a 3rd Shift CNC Machinist and become a vital contributor to precision metalworking operations. This energetic role offers the opportunity to operate, program, and maintain advanced CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, including lathes and milling machines, during the overnight hours. You will be instrumental in producing high-quality components with accuracy and efficiency, supporting our commitment to manufacturing excellence. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a passion for machining and technical craftsmanship, this is your chance to excel!
Duties
- Set up and operate CNC machines such as CNC lathes and milling machines, primarily utilizing Fanuc control systems.
- Program CNC equipment using G-code and M-code, incorporating CAM programming techniques to optimize machining processes.
- Interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and technical specifications to ensure precise manufacturing of parts.
- Conduct quality inspections using measurement tools like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC machinery, including tool changes, calibration, and troubleshooting electrical discharge machining (EDM) equipment when necessary.
- Utilize hand tools, grinders, power tools, and tooling to support machining tasks and assembly processes.
- Follow lean manufacturing principles to improve workflow efficiency while maintaining safety standards across all operations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating CNC machinery such as CNC mills or CNC lathes with familiarity in Fanuc controls or similar systems.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming including G-code, M-code, and CAM programming software.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
- Mechanical aptitude with understanding of metal machining processes including plastics injection molding when applicable.
- Skilled in measurement techniques using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines for quality control purposes.
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, feeds, speeds, and tolerances essential for precision machining.
- Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes is a plus.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards for accurate part inspection.
- Ability to operate forklifts safely; certification preferred but not required.
- Strong attention to detail combined with excellent problem-solving skills in a manufacturing environment.
Embark on an exciting career journey where your technical skills drive innovation! We value energetic team players committed to quality craftsmanship who are eager to grow their expertise in CNC machining within a collaborative setting focused on continuous improvement.
