Duties
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system to process customer transactions efficiently and accurately.
- Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions with precision, ensuring proper cash handling procedures are followed.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers warmly and addressing their inquiries or concerns.
- Assist with merchandising by restocking shelves and maintaining product displays to enhance the shopping experience.
- Engage in upselling techniques to promote additional products during checkout.
- Conduct product demos when necessary to inform customers about new items or promotions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization at the checkout area, ensuring a welcoming environment for customers.
- Utilize strong communication skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.
- Supervise junior staff as needed, providing guidance on best practices in cashiering and customer service.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in cashiering or retail sales is preferred, particularly in a grocery store setting.
- Familiarity with basic math skills for accurate cash handling and retail math calculations.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effective customer interaction.
- Bilingual candidates are highly encouraged to apply as this can enhance customer engagement.
- Experience with stocking merchandise and maintaining inventory is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
