Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg (Telemetry)
Location: Syracuse, NY 13210
Job Type: Travel Assignment | 12 Weeks
Shift: Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts
Schedule: 36 Hours/Week | 3 Days/Week
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg (Telemetry) for a travel opportunity at a large acute care hospital. The ideal candidate will have strong medical-surgical nursing skills, telemetry monitoring experience, and the ability to deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult Med/Surg telemetry patients
- Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms and report abnormalities
- Perform patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
- Start IVs and maintain intravenous therapy
- Collect blood specimens and perform lab-related procedures
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams
- Document patient care using EPIC EMR
- Respond to changes in patient condition and emergencies
- Educate patients and families regarding care and discharge planning
- Follow hospital safety, infection control, and compliance standards
Requirements:
- Minimum 1.5 years of recent Med/Surg experience within the last 2 years
- Acute care hospital experience required
- Strong telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation skills
- Experience starting IVs and drawing blood specimens
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and patient care skills
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
Preferred:
- Level 1 Trauma experience
- Level 2 Trauma experience
- EPIC EMR experience
Required Certifications & Licenses:
- Active New York State RN License
- BLS Certification (AHA)
- Telemetry Monitoring Competency
- IV Therapy Skills
