Position Summary: This position supports the division’s needs by expediting the requests between construction, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams. As a Construction Expeditor, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our construction projects. You will be responsible for expediting the flow of materials, labor purchase orders, and information between construction, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams. Your attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously will be essential in this role. Your exceptional coordination and communication skills will help streamline the construction process, ensuring timely delivery of all to keep the project on schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and expedite the order of construction materials and supplies to project sites.
- Collaborate with project managers, suppliers, and contractors to ensure timely procurement of materials.
- Generate purchase orders ensuring accuracy to plan, specifications, contract, change orders and job specific site costs.
- Assist in the development and implementation of procurement strategies.
- Identify potential issues and provide proactive solutions to maintain project schedules.
- Maintain purchasing data within proprietary software.
- Provide support to the Purchasing Operations Manager and assist with day-to-day administrative needs.
- Understand cost code structure and how it affects accounting and operational reporting.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance in office.
Requirements:
- High school or equivalent (Required)
- 2+ years purchasing experience in residential home building (Preferred)
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Proficient in basic computing skills and ability to learn proprietary software
- Must communicate well with clients, all levels of company staff and subcontracted vendors
- High level of attention to detail and cost analysis
- Ability to read and understand construction plans/blueprints (Preferred)
