Job Summary
DZ Tree Co. is looking for a ground crew member to join our team!
Duties
- Drag and load brush, limbs, and logs into dump trailer for disposal
- Drive trailer loads to eco/transfer stations and mulch sites for chipping
- Cut brush, limbs, and logs into specified sizes for ease of loading or homeowner use (block logs for firewood)
- Operate ground-based equipment (chippers, chainsaws, polesaws, blowers)
- Maintain an organized & safe job site
- Keep tools and equipment clean & well maintained
- Support traffic control as needed when tree work occurs near roads
- Assist climbers & crew leads with ropes, rigging, and lowering operations (training provided)
- Follow all crew lead and climber instructions
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) every day, on every job site (ear plugs, eyeglasses, high visibility vest, and sturdy work boots)
- Represent DZ Tree Co. in a professional & respectful manner when interacting with clients, subcontractors, and service/equipment providers
Requirements
- Must be able to lift, carry, and drag 50-75 pounds of material (brush, limbs, logs) for extended periods of time. When possible, we use wheelbarrows and carts to make the work easier, and we get the loading trailer as close as we can to the pile for transport & disposal. However, the reality is we often work in tight residential spaces where the easiest & fastest way to get material out is to lift or drag it off the job site and to the trailer.
- Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites. We are a mobile tree service that works in Rio Arriba, Taos, Los Alamos, and Santa Fe Counties.
- Applicant ideally should have some experience in the use of chainsaws, however we will provide training for the right fit. Chainsaw experience does not need to be in a professional capacity— at home/personal use experience counts!)
- Applicant should be interested in learning about all aspects of tree service work— trimming, pruning, removals, climbing, etc. This ground crew position is meant to grow with the person we hire.
- Applicant must be at least 21 years old
Pay Details
- FULL TIME - Our main crew works a 4/10 schedule Tuesday-Friday. You’ll have Saturday-Monday off.
- $25.00/hr to start. Raises at 3 and 6 months. Additional opportunities for promotion with pay raises as a tree trimmer, crew lead, and climber.
- Gas reimbursement: Our services & crews are mobile across Northern NM, so you’ll receive a reimbursement for using your personal vehicle to commute to job sites.
- We supply eye protection, hearing protection, helmet/face shield, safety vest, and cutting chaps
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
