Receiving Clerk Job Description
Job Summary:
This position reports to the Warehouse Manager. The Receiving Clerk is responsible for managing and processing all incoming shipments, ensuring accuracy in inventory records, and supporting efficient warehouse operations. This role involves verifying deliveries, inspecting goods for quality and quantity, maintaining organized records, and collaborating with other departments to ensure the timely distribution of materials and products.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy, quality, and damage.
- Verify shipment contents against purchase orders, invoices, or packing lists.
- Record details of received items in inventory management systems.
- Unload and store deliveries in designated areas, using material handling equipment as needed.
- Coordinate with purchasers to resolve discrepancies or issues with deliveries.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse.
- Assist in periodic inventory audits to ensure record accuracy.
- Deliver received items to the appropriate departments or requestors promptly.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies during receiving operations.
- Report any discrepancies, damages, or shortages to relevant parties immediately.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records, logs, and reports on received goods.
- Operate forklifts or other warehouse equipment as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent; warehouse experience is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with inventory management software or databases a plus.
- Practical communication skills for coordinating with purchasers and internal teams.
- Ability to lift and move heavy items and stand for extended periods.
- Basic math skills and the ability to accurately count and verify shipments.
- Reliability and trustworthiness.
- Forklift certification or experience is a plus.
Work Environment
- Warehouse setting, with exposure to varying temperatures and the need for safe lifting practices.
- It may require the use of protective gear and adherence to safety protocols.
Preferred Certifications
- Certification in inventory management or supply chain (e.g., APICS CSCP) is an advantage but not required.
Performance Metrics (KPIs)
- Accuracy in recording received goods
- Timeliness in processing and distributing inbound shipments.

Pay: From $22.00 per hour
