JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide emergent and non-emergent transports as directed by dispatch and management while adhering to the high standard of patient care as required by Wood’s Ambulance
Adhere to all Universal Precautions when dealing with all patients and maintain a high regard for personal safety as well as the safety of your partner and bystanders
Render emergency medical care in accordance with current Statewide Treatment Protocols and under Wood’s Policy and Procedures
Exercise good judgment and decision making while providing high quality emergency care and act in the best interest of the patient in a professional manner
Assist with the care of patients and other tasks in the emergency department or facilities as necessary and appropriate at the request of the staff
Provide appropriate medical care on a consistent basis when accompanying patients to the hospital until the transfer is made to a medical professional
Obtain Medical Direction Physician signatures prior to the completion of patient transfer
Maintain current knowledge of all internal and external regulations that affects EMS
Complete all necessary and required documentation and record keeping including run reports, vital signs and treatment narratives both manually and/or electronically accurately and in a timely manner
Respond to emergencies using appropriate care and caution in accordance with Massachusetts Vehicle safe emergency operation law
Act as the Team Leader in dealing with emergency situations, directing and supervising other members of the emergency care team when called upon
Responsible for personal education and maintenance of all professional certifications and licenses as well as attending scheduled meetings as required
Assist with complaints and investigations as directed by management
Maintain the assigned vehicle through cleaning and maintenance as required and that the vehicle is well stocked and checklists are completed on a daily basis; including bio cleanings
Maintain a sanitary and order work environment including ambulances, garages, crew quarters and office areas
Participate in the orientation process of new EMS Staff as directed
Perform other duties as assigned by Management
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED
Current Registration as EMT-Paramedic
Current licensure in accordance with protocols and procedures required by OEMS in the State of MA
Current AHA BLS, ACLS certification
Current valid Motor Vehicle Operator License with good driving record
2+ years of experience in an EMS/Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Care environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s Degree
PALS, PHTLS certification
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

Ability to lift and maneuver 150+ pounds with assistance and without difficulty
Ability to ascend/descend stairs repeatedly and the ability to lift and carry 150+ pounds up and down stairs
Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
Ability to position yourself in an ambulance
