Peer Support Specialists engage and encourage our Mental Health/Substance Abuse clients. This position provides clients with a sense of belonging, supportive relationships, and community. This position promotes wellness, independent living, self-direction, recovery focus, enhancing the skill and ability of MH/SA clients to meet their chosen goals. The Peer Support Specialist looks for signs of wellness and recovery, encouraging strength perspective and self-direction.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Educates clients on the purpose of peer support and recovery models.
· Intentionally share your story as appropriate, providing hope and help in changing patterns and behavior.
· Be well informed about trauma and explore with clients their experiences and support them in getting appropriate resources aide in their recovery.
· Have his/her own Wellness Recovery Action Plan(WRAP).
· Assist MH/SA clients in creating their own WRAP.
· Help persons in crisis explore options to benefit in recovery and maintaining stability.
· Provide culturally-sensitive and age-specific services.
· Focus positively on emotional growth, strengths, and recovery goal
· Encourage MH/SA clients to become self-directed and focused on their strengths.
· Provide resources beneficial in recovery.
· Provides MH/SA clients with very clear definitions of recovery and its components
Qualifications
· Medicaid billing number (preferred)
· Must be 18 years or older
· State of Ohio Peer Recovery Support Certification (required)
· Identify as a person in mental health or substance use recovery
· Has maintained at least 1 year of sobriety.
· Active Listening Skills
-Must have a NPI number and a Medicaid Billing Number
For this position the Peer support Worker will be working in our Recovery House.

Pay: $18.00 per hour
