JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Under the immediate direction of the teacher, the position of Educational Assistant IIIC is responsible for the supervision and instruction of ELD (English Language Development) students. The ELD Educational Assistant III will support instructional activities in both the ELD classroom and mainstream, as appropriate, with teacher guidance. Written and oral proficiency in English and Spanish is a prerequisite for this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Supervises and assists students in the completion of their assignments.
2. Monitors students in the classroom, at lunch, and at recess, as well as in transit from one area to another.
3. Assists with the implementation of the individual educational plans (IEP) and behavior management plans for each student.
4. Assists in development and evaluation of educational materials.
5. Assists in completion of all clerical duties.
6. Assists with student transportation, such as meeting a cab outside.
7. Assists in the maintenance and care of equipment.
8. Assists in the manipulation of instructional materials.
9. Assists on fields trips.
10. Assists in keeping students clean.
11. Assists students with toilet needs, feeding, and in physical movement.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Ability to read, write, and speak the designated language fluently
- Experience working with students where English is their second language, specifically Spanish, is preferred.
- Vocational experience in an urban setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with various student assistive devices is also preferred.
