Duties
- Safely operate different types of trucks such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks to transport freight across designated routes.
- Load and unload cargo with precision using forklifts or manual methods, ensuring proper securing of loads for safe transit.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checks on brakes, tires, lights, and load integrity.
- Follow established routes and schedules diligently while adapting to traffic conditions and delivery priorities.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, mileage, and vehicle maintenance reports in compliance with transportation regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery statuses or any issues encountered during routes.
- Uphold safety standards at all times by adhering to traffic laws, company policies, and industry regulations related to commercial driving.
Experience
- Proven experience as a truck driver with a focus on freight delivery in various vehicle types such as tractor-trailers or flatbeds.
- Demonstrated ability to operate manual transmission vehicles confidently and safely.
- Experience with refrigerated trailers or tankers is preferred but not mandatory; training can be provided.
- Familiarity with route driving and navigation tools to optimize delivery efficiency.
- Prior delivery driver experience involving load & unload procedures using forklifts or manual handling techniques.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to commercial driving including hours-of-service regulations and vehicle inspections.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) appropriate for the vehicle type operated; endorsements for tanker or hazardous materials are advantageous.
