Program/Department: Childcare
Reports To: Onsite Preschool & Childcare Supervisor
Position Summary
The Childcare Staff Member is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children. This role supports children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through planned activities, play, and daily care routines.
Core Responsibilities
- Supervise children at all times to ensure safety and well-being
- Plan and implement age-appropriate routines and activities
- Assist with daily routines, including meals, naps, and hygiene
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment
- Encourage positive behavior and model appropriate social interactions and conflict resolution
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child’s progress and needs
- Observe and document children’s development and report concerns when necessary
- Maintain written documentation such as attendance, accident/incident reports, etc.
- Follow all licensing and food program regulations and center policies
- Work collaboratively and respectfully with other staff members and participate in team meetings/trainings
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
- Required Qualifications/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working with children (childcare, preschool, or similar setting)
- Knowledge of child development principles
- Additional Required Qualifications for Lead Teachers:
- At least 19 years of age
- At least ONE of the following:
- Current Infant/Toddler CDA
- 3 semester hours/4.5 CEU’s/45 hours of MiRegistry-approved track of infant and toddler development and care practices within 6 months of hire
- Required Training:
- Follow Annual Professional Development Plan as set by Director of Licensed Programs (typically requiring 16-24 hours of paid training yearly)
- CPR & First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)

- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with children, families, and staff
- Open and often communication with other staff members, supervisor, and families

- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure, professionalism, and confidentiality
Working Conditions & Expectations
- Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, sit on the floor, bend, and move quickly as needed
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors

- Center is open Monday-Friday 6:30am-6:30pm

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
