Crew Leader Responsibilities:
- Attend daily briefings with supervisors on job assignments and submit daily end-of-day reports on the progress and any discrepancies that occurred during the day’s activities
- Coordinate with supervisors to ensure proper training on all tools, equipment, vehicles and PPE use
- Ensure your crew has the proper tools, equipment, vehicles and PPE needed and loaded to safely complete the assigned task(s)
- Ensure all tools, equipment and vehicles are cleaned, lubed, fueled and stored properly at the end of the day
- Coordinate with crew leaders and supervisors on any large projects
- Report any injuries, equipment or property damage as soon as possible to supervisors
- Lead by example, as a crew leader you set an example for the people around you
Landscape Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with crew leaders and supervisors on when to begin bed clean up, pre emergent herbicide and mulch applications
- Coordinate with crew leaders and supervisors to conduct training sessions on proper handling and application of herbicides
- Ensure all PPE is in proper working order and used as per the product label for herbicide application
- Coordinate with crew leaders and supervisors to conduct training for the proper operation of mulching equipment
- Ensure all PPE is in proper working order and used in the application and operation of mulching equipment
- Coordinate with crew leaders and supervisors to ensure monthly inspection of planting beds
- Remove weeds, replace mulch, report to supervisors of missing plants and/or plant health issues
Irrigation Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with crew leaders and supervisors on spring irrigation start upC
- All irrigation systems should be in proper working order before the start of the 3rd week in May
- Coordinate with crew leaders and supervisors to ensure monthly inspection of every irrigation zone
- Check for proper operation of irrigation system, repair minor leaks and report any discrepancies, including under/over water conditions, to supervisors
- Coordinate with crew leaders and supervisors on the timing and proper procedures to shut down and blow out all irrigation zones in the fall.
Turf Bed Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with crew leaders and supervisors on the timing of spring herbicide and periodic fertilizer application
- Coordinate with crew leaders and supervisors on proper training for herbicide and fertilizer applications
- Ensure all PPE is in proper working order and used in the application of all chemicals and fertilizers as per the product label
- Coordinate with crew leaders and supervisors on the beginning of mowing operations
- Coordinate with crew leaders and supervisors on proper training for all mowing, string trimming and edging equipment
- Ensure all PPE is in proper working order and used in the operation of all equipment associated with mowing operations
