Growout Turkey Farm Manager - Osakis, MN
R&L Turkeys – A Division of Klaphake Feed Mill Inc. is seeking a dependable and hardworking Growout Farm Manager to oversee the daily care and management of approximately 55,000 turkeys housed across four barns in Osakis, MN. This hands-on role is responsible for maintaining bird health, barn conditions, equipment operation, and farm upkeep while ensuring daily tasks are completed accurately and efficiently. Housing is available for the selected candidate.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working independently while supervising one employee and occasionally leading small groups.
Primary Responsibilities Daily Duties:
- Perform daily morning inspections and remove all mortality promptly and accurately
- Read and monitor feed bins
- Report mortality counts and feed bin readings to supervisor by 8:00 AM daily
- Wash waterers and flush water lines
- Spread shavings as needed to maintain proper barn conditions
- Conduct noon and evening barn checks
- Observe bird behavior and health; report and respond to any concerns
- Monitor and control barn ventilation and environmental conditions
Additional Duties & Responsibilities:
- Vaccinate birds according to schedule
- Administer medications and supplements through water systems
- Maintain accurate mortality and medication records
- Repair and maintain farm and barn equipment
- Operate various farm machinery and equipment
- Prepare barns for bird loadouts at the end of each flock
- Supervise overnight loadouts as needed
- Clean, wash, and disinfect barns between flocks
- Maintain farm grounds including mowing, trimming, and snow removal
- Assist with building maintenance and repairs
- Plan and organize weekly farm tasks and chores
- Assist with poult placement and bird movement at other farms
- Work every other weekend while birds are on site
Qualifications:
- Ability to work independently and manage daily responsibilities
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to animal care
- Mechanical and maintenance skills preferred
- Ability to supervise one employee and lead small groups when needed
- Comfortable working in physically demanding farm environments
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to lift, bend, walk, and work in varying weather and barn conditions
- Previous livestock, poultry, turkey, or agricultural experience preferred but not required

- Farm managers are expected to provide their own basic day-to-day tools
- Specialty tools and equipment will be provided by the company
