Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Regional Global Practice Manager to lead the strategic growth, performance, and market presence of the Florida Region's Transportation (TRN) Global Practice, based in Orlando. Our team has become a trusted resource to help deliver some of Flordia’s largest transportation projects because of our unique, integrated business model as an engineering and construction company. The Regional Global Practice Manager will guide our growth, deepening our position and expanding our services to clients throughout Florida, with emphasis on innovative delivery, program management, design-build, and construction in close coordination with our construction, design-build team.
- Collaborate closely with Transportation design and construction professionals across the company, leveraging a nationwide organization that supports clients in specialized business lines of DOT and Tollways, Local Government, Rail, Ports, and Private, industrial development.
- Join other regional Global Practice Managers in Florida such as our Transmission & Distribution, Global Facilities, and Aviation & Federal practices, creating additional pathways for collaboration, cross-selling, and multidisciplinary project delivery throughout the Florida market.
- Responsible for driving growth across both established Transportation markets and emerging opportunities that diversify the business.
- Working closely with regional and national leadership to identify strategic opportunities, develop long-term business plans, and help shape the future direction of the practice.
- Be accountable for achieving sales, revenue, and profitability objectives while developing and executing operational, marketing, and client engagement strategies that support sustainable growth. A dedicated marketing team will provide support in pursuit positioning, client-focused messaging, and strategic business development efforts throughout the region.
- Strong client relationship management and collaboration with senior leadership to identify target clients, pursue key opportunities, and strengthen Burns & McDonnell's presence in the marketplace.
- Assemble and lead pursuit teams and may serve as Project Executive on strategic opportunities from early positioning through proposal development, contract negotiation, and project delivery.
- Ability to cultivate and leverage strong relationships with clients, contractors, and industry partners while advancing design-build and innovative delivery strategies throughout the region.
- Maintain an active presence in local industry organizations and professional associations, bringing established relationships that enhance market visibility and create new opportunities for growth.
- Responsible for ensuring profitable project execution through strong financial and operational leadership, including forecasting, risk management, margin protection, and proactive oversight of project performance.
- Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing multidisciplinary team.
- Responsible for hiring, performance management, employee-owner development, and fostering an inclusive, collaborative culture that supports engagement and growth.
- Oversees project execution to ensure client expectations are met or exceeded with respect to safety, quality, schedule, and budget.
- May serve as Project Manager on key initiatives and will champion adherence to Burns & McDonnell's quality, safety, and compliance programs across the practice.
- Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all company policies and standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in engineering, business or related degree from an accredited program and 10 years relevant consulting experience, preferably in the consulting engineering industry or project management required.
- Proven experience in business development, client relationship management, and strategic growth within the Transportation market. The ideal candidate will possess close relationships with clients and talent in the DOT/Expressway market or the Industrial market comprised of Port, Rail, and Private development customers.
- Active participation in local organizations, industry associations, and market-facing groups, with established connections that support client engagement, business development, and regional growth preferred.
- Demonstrated success managing projects, including proposals, contracts, budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in transportation and/or heavy civil alternative delivery including relationships in the contractor community preferred.
- Experience positioning, pursuing, or delivering design-build, progressive design-build, or other alternative delivery projects within transportation or heavy civil markets preferred.
- Experience collaborating across multiple business units, practices, or disciplines to pursue and deliver transportation and heavy civil projects, including work that spans multiple markets, service lines, and client sectors preferred.
- Strong leadership experience with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
- Business and financial acumen with experience achieving revenue and profitability targets.
- Knowledge of Transportation market dynamics, delivery methods, and construction practices, including experience with alternative delivery models such as design-build and progressive design-build preferred.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to influence and lead across teams and organizational levels.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred.
