American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for an ICU position requiring strong neuro critical care experience and an active VA or Compact RN license.
-
Work in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital setting
-
Care for medical, neuro, surgical, and trauma ICU patient populations
-
Typical patient ratio of 1:2-3
-
Night shift schedule with 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (19:00-7:30)
-
Every other weekend and holiday coverage required within the contract
-
Floating required to Stepdown Unit, Emergency Department, or Medical-Surgical units to care for ICU patients being held
-
Uses Epic EMR system
-
Active VA or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission, no exceptions
-
3 years of critical care experience preferred, though strong candidates with less experience may be considered
-
Trauma Level I and II experience preferred
-
Required certifications: BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association only), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
-
Required proficiency in Epic charting system, no exceptions
-
Strong neuro critical care experience required
-
Skilled in ventilator management, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, and dysrhythmia recognition and management
-
Experience with arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
-
Experience with CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, and post-craniotomy/neurosurgery care
-
Experience with continuous IV sedation, paralytics/neuromuscular blockade, and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
-
Must pass EKG/telemetry competency test with 80% or higher, with only one attempt allowed and no remediation available

Cannot accommodate PAPR fit testing requirements

No prior license or background hits permitted for consideration

Two professional references required for consideration

Provide critical care nursing to complex ICU patients including neuro, trauma, surgical, and multisystem organ dysfunction cases
-
Perform emergency response and critical care management as needed
-
Assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion/removal and 12-lead EKG acquisition
-
Manage patients with fresh tracheostomy, BiPAP/CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula needs
-
Support renal patients including CVVHD/CRRT and chronic/acute renal failure management
-
Administer IV insulin protocols and manage endocrine/metabolic needs as required
-
Complete 3 hours of pre-start orientation modules

Must be willing to work two of the three winter holidays if extending assignment through January 2027

Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position

Requested time off must be submitted in advance for review and approval on a case-by-case basis

Previous travel nursing experience preferred but not required
