The Kitchen Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the kitchen staff in the preparation and serving of food. This position requires a proactive individual who is passionate about food service and hospitality. The Kitchen Assistant will assist with various tasks to ensure the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently, contributing to a positive dining experience for all guests.
Duties
- Assist chefs and cooks in food preparation, including chopping, slicing, and measuring ingredients.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, ensuring all surfaces are sanitized.
- Help with inventory management by checking stock levels and assisting with ordering supplies as needed.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Support the team during busy service periods by expediting orders and ensuring timely delivery of meals.
- Participate in staff training sessions to enhance skills in food management and hospitality practices.
- Collaborate with team members to foster a positive work environment focused on excellent customer service.
Skills
- Experience in food service management or restaurant management is preferred.
- Strong team management skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of POS systems for efficient order processing is an asset.
- Previous experience as an assistant manager or cook is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with kitchen staff and front-of-house personnel.
- A keen understanding of food safety practices and sanitation standards.
- Ability to train new staff members in kitchen procedures and best practices.
