Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medication Aide to join our vibrant healthcare team. In this vital role, you will assist in administering medications, providing personalized resident care, and supporting overall well-being within a senior living or healthcare facility. Your expertise will ensure residents receive safe, timely medication management while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations. Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed medications accurately and safely in accordance with state regulations and facility policies
- Monitor residents’ vital signs, symptoms, and responses to medication treatments, documenting all observations thoroughly in medical records or electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner
- Assist residents with personal care activities including hygiene, mobility, and daily living tasks while respecting their dignity and preferences
- Support residents with specialized needs such as Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care, and hospice care by implementing tailored care plans
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines by safeguarding patient confidentiality and handling sensitive medical information responsibly
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff, physicians, family members, and other caregivers to coordinate comprehensive resident care
- Perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting and tube feeding assistance while following proper safety protocols
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Medication Aide recognized by the State Board of Nursing or relevant licensing authority
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and senior care best practices
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner is highly desirable
- Strong caregiving skills with the ability to work compassionately with geriatric patients and individuals with disabilities or memory impairments
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications; additional certifications in hospice or dementia care are a plus
- Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting, manual handling, and assisting residents with mobility needs while maintaining safety standards
