Anderson Underground is hiring Underground Laborers to support traveling utility construction crews.
This is a hands-on field role working outdoors around underground utility construction, excavation, trenching, equipment, tools, and materials. We’re looking for someone dependable, safety-minded, and willing to work hard with a crew.
Position Summary:
The Underground Laborer supports equipment operators, foremen, and crew members with daily underground utility construction work. This includes loading and unloading materials, preparing job sites, assisting with trenching and backfilling, spotting equipment, handling tools, and helping keep the job moving safely and efficiently.
Schedule / Travel:
Crews typically work a 10 days on / 4 days off rotation.
Week 1: Monday-Friday
Week 2: Monday-Thursday
Hours generally average around 50-55 hours per week, but can vary depending on workload, weather, and project needs.
This is a traveling role. Transportation is provided, and flights in and out are paid for when applicable. Perdiem is paid out on working days.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist with underground utility construction, trenching, excavation, and backfill work

Load, unload, organize, and move tools, materials, pipe, conduit, and equipment

Spot for equipment operators and help maintain safe work zones

Assist with setting up traffic control, barricades, shoring, trench boxes, and jobsite protection

Use hand tools, power tools, compactors, tampers, and other small equipment

Help with cleanup, equipment washing, and daily jobsite organization

Follow all company safety procedures, OSHA standards, and jobsite requirements

Work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding labor
What We’re Looking For:

Previous underground utility, construction labor, excavation, or trenching experience preferred

CDL preferred

Valid driver’s license required

Ability to travel and stay out of town during scheduled rotations

Comfortable working around heavy equipment

Willing to perform physical labor in outdoor jobsite conditions

Strong attendance, safety mindset, and ability to work as part of a crew
