The Dominguez Firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our growing Personal Injury Litigation Department. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience handling plaintiff-side personal injury litigation matters and possess the organizational skills necessary to manage a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced environment.
This position works directly with attorneys, litigation support staff, clients, medical providers, expert witnesses, and opposing counsel to ensure the successful progression of cases from filing through trial.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of approximately 50–75 active personal injury litigation matters.
- Maintain litigation calendars and track all court deadlines, hearings, depositions, mediations, and trial dates.
- Draft, prepare, file, and serve pleadings, motions, notices, subpoenas, and other litigation documents.
- Propound and respond to written discovery.
- Draft meet and confer correspondence and assist with discovery disputes.
- Coordinate depositions, mediations, independent medical examinations (IMEs), and expert witness appearances.
- Review, organize, summarize, and index medical records, discovery responses, and litigation documents.
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status, litigation preparation, and deposition scheduling.
- Coordinate with healthcare providers, experts, court reporters, interpreters, and opposing counsel.
- Review deposition transcripts with clients and assist attorneys with case preparation.
- Prepare trial exhibits, witness binders, trial notebooks, and other trial-related materials.
- Conduct legal research and assist in drafting litigation correspondence and memoranda.
- Maintain accurate electronic and physical case files.
- Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation through trial preparation.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal experience.
- Thorough understanding of California civil litigation procedures and deadlines.
- Experience handling cases through discovery, mediation, and trial preparation.
- Strong knowledge of California state court e-filing procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and legal case management software.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Professional demeanor and strong client-service orientation.
- Bilingual English/Spanish required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Plaintiff Personal Injury experience strongly preferred.
- Experience coordinating expert witnesses and trial preparation.
- Familiarity with Litify or similar case management systems.
