This is not a sitting job — our team is actively supporting daily operations, maintaining the facility, and ensuring the highest standards of care and professionalism throughout the entire shift.
Position Overview
This position requires constant movement and active coordination of facility operations throughout the shift. While the work is incredibly rewarding, it is also physically demanding and fast-paced. Candidates should be prepared to stay engaged, attentive, and on their feet for the majority of the workday.
The Shift Lead / Receptionist plays a key role in the daily operation of the facility. This position is responsible for running front desk operations, supporting team members, and ensuring staff are properly following procedures and providing excellent care for the dogs in our facility.
Successful candidates must be organized, observant, calm under pressure, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining a smooth and professional front-end operation.
This role requires strong leadership, communication skills, and a proactive approach to facility operations and team coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Front Desk & Client Experience
- Manage front desk operations and client flow throughout the shift
- Greet clients professionally and assist with check-ins and check-outs using Gingr
- Answer client questions and provide clear communication regarding services
- Ensure accurate account management, payments, and reservations
- Maintain a welcoming and organized reception area
Operational Leadership
- Help ensure smooth daily operations across the facility
- Provide direction and support to kennel technicians and daycare attendants
- Monitor workflow and ensure tasks are completed efficiently
- Ensure team members are following company procedures and standards
- Communicate clearly with team members and management
Animal Care Support
- Administer medications to dogs according to individual instructions
- Monitor dogs for signs of illness, injury, or stress
- Maintain proper hydration and comfort for dogs in our care
- Assist with bathing dogs when required
Facility Cleanliness & Operations
- Maintain a clean and sanitary environment throughout the facility
- Clean kennels, play yards, and common areas regularly
- Perform laundry and sanitation duties
- Assist with general facility upkeep and light maintenance tasks
Work Environment
This is a physically active, hands-on role. Team members should expect to:
- Be on their feet for most of the shift
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Clean frequently throughout the day
- Handle energetic dogs of all sizes
- Work in a fast-paced environment where safety and organization are top priorities
Working with dogs is rewarding, but it also requires focus, stamina, and constant awareness.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Previous experience working with dogs is required
- Comfortable handling dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment
- Must have reliable transportation and access to a vehicle for emergencies
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to work weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Experience
- Dog daycare or boarding facility experience
- Kennel technician experience
- Front desk or receptionist experience
- Leadership or shift lead experience
- Animal handling or animal care background
