In Home Caregiver for 1:1 care for a client at home. As an In Home Caregiver, you will deliver a wide range of services including personal care, medication management, meal preparation, and patient monitoring, all while fostering a warm and trusting environment. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help clients thrive in their daily routines and enhance their quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using appropriate patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques.
- Monitor and document vital signs, health status, and changes in condition to ensure timely communication with healthcare providers.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with personal transportation for appointments or errands.
- Administer medications accurately following care plans while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality.
- Support clients with cognitive impairments such as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease through specialized memory care techniques and patient observation.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks including cleaning, laundry, and organizing living spaces.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and update personalized care plans that address each client’s unique needs, including hospice or palliative care when applicable.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments.
- Strong knowledge of patient observation, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and emergency response procedures like CPR and first aid.
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or intellectual disabilities.
- Familiarity with dementia care strategies such as Alzheimer’s care and memory support techniques.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting safely while adhering to safety protocols.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with clients, families, and healthcare professionals effectively.
- Valid certifications in CPR and first aid; additional certifications in hospice or geriatrics are a plus.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure client privacy is always protected.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings or weekends as needed to provide consistent care.
