The Directing Attorney for Compliance, Grants & Systems supports a legal non-profit organization in Southern California by providing strategic oversight of organizational compliance, grants management, legal operations systems, data integrity, quality assurance, and centralized intake functions to support effective service delivery and mitigate organizational risk. This full-time, exempt leadership role partners closely with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with funding and regulatory requirements, promote operational excellence, and reports to the Director of Legal Services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic oversight of organizational compliance, quality assurance, risk assessment, audits, and policy development to ensure adherence to legal, ethical, regulatory, and funder requirements.
- Monitor grant and contract requirements, performance measures, reporting obligations, and funder relations to ensure accountability and successful outcomes.
- Lead the development and improvement of legal services systems, data governance, workflows, reporting tools, and operational processes to enhance efficiency, compliance, and service delivery.
- Supervise and mentor assigned supervisors and staff, support performance management and professional growth, and promote organizational alignment and accountability.
- Use data and program evaluation to drive continuous improvement while representing the organization with funders, regulatory agencies, community partners, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience: Juris Doctor and active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California. Minimum of 8 years of experience as an attorney and minimum of 3 years of experience managing, supervising, and mentoring.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of legal principles, legal research, court procedures, and the substantive areas of law relevant to legal services programs.
- Proven leadership, management, and training skills, with the ability to supervise teams, implement compliance requirements, and manage grant-funded programs.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse communities, courts, funders, government agencies, and community partners.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, exercise sound judgment, advance social justice initiatives, and support trauma-informed, client-centered service delivery.
