Job Overview
The Juvenile Supervision Officer plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive environment for youth in a correctional or rehabilitation facility. This position involves direct supervision of juvenile residents, guiding behavior, enforcing facility rules, and fostering personal growth and accountability. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working with youth—particularly in challenging or high-risk settings—along with strong conflict resolution skills. A background in law enforcement, military service, or related fields is beneficial, as is the ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure or emergency situations.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor the daily activities of juvenile residents ages 10-17 to ensure safety and compliance with facility regulations.
- Implement behavior management techniques and conflict resolution strategies to maintain order within the facility.
- Provide first aid and CPR as needed, responding promptly to medical emergencies involving residents.
- Prepare detailed reports on incidents, resident behavior, and other relevant documentation for review by supervisory staff.
- Participate in training programs to stay current on best practices in juvenile rehabilitation and security measures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in law enforcement, military service, or security is highly desirable.
- Strong conflict management skills with the ability to de-escalate tense situations effectively.
- Excellent report writing skills with attention to detail for accurate documentation of incidents and observations.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being able to make independent decisions when necessary.
- Please note that this position requires working with juvenile offenders. Candidates must pass a thorough background check and drug screening before employment.
