Summary
Under the general direction of the Manager of Patient Care, the Lead RN – Emergency & Acute Care Services serves as a clinical resource, mentor, and operational support nurse for the Incline Village Community Hospital Emergency Department and MedSurg units. This role supports daily department operations, staff development, patient flow, regulatory readiness, quality improvement initiatives, and interdisciplinary communication in a rural Critical Access Hospital environment where nurses function in many roles.
The Lead RN promotes consistency, teamwork, operational readiness, and high-quality patient care while supporting department initiatives and serving as a liaison between frontline staff and leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Operations
Department Readiness
Supports department readiness initiatives including huddles, stocking, equipment checks, downtime preparedness, and environmental organization
- Assists with identifying, escalating, and following up on equipment, facility, IT, or workflow issues
- Participates in maintaining survey and regulatory readiness
Education & Mentorship
Quality Improvement
Communication & Collaboration
Promotes effective communication between shifts and departments
Serves as a liaison between frontline staff and department leadership
Assists with dissemination and reinforcement of departmental updates and workflow changes
Schedule Structure
Position includes scheduled clinical shifts and designated operational leadership time which may include:
- Onboarding support
- Audits and quality initiatives
- Department readiness activities
- Education support
- Stocking oversight
- Workflow coordination
- Meeting participation

Minimum Education/Experience
Associate's Degree Graduation from a National League of Nursing (NLN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or equivalent accredited school of nursing. The nurse shall have completed a nursing education program that included clinical experiences with actual patients under the supervision of qualified faculty.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
Pediatric Advanced Life Support
BLS/ACLS/PALS: Employee will be enrolled in the Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Entry or Prep Curriculum (depending on their previous BLS, ACLS, and/or PALS certification).
