Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Full-Time Excavator Operator to join our construction crew for projects in Alto, MI and Battle Creek MI. The primary responsibility of this role is to safely move dirt and prepare construction sites for build-out. You will manipulate heavy machinery to grad land, dig foundations, and ensure the site is structurally ready for the next phase of construction
Responsibilities
- Site Preparation: Excavate, backfill, and compact earth to prepare construction sites for building foundations, utilities, and roadways.
- Precision Digging: Move large quantities of dirt, rocks, and debris while maintaining precise depths and slopes according to site stakes.
- Safety Protocols: Perform mandatory pre-shift equipment inspections and strictly follow site safety standards to prevent cave-ins or utility strikes.
- Machine Care: Clean tracks, grease pivot points, check fluid levels, and report mechanical defects immediately to prevent project delays.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, backhoes, water trucks, dump trucks, tankers, and horizontal drilling machinery. Preferrably 2-5 years experience.
- Valid commercial driver’s license with experience in commercial truck driving preferred.
- Mechanical knowledge for basic troubleshooting and maintenance of construction machinery.
- Familiarity with federal construction safety regulations and general safety standards in heavy equipment operation.
- Construction site experience with a solid understanding of excavation processes and earth-moving techniques.
- Ability to perform utility locating tasks accurately using specialized tools and methods.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Grade Reading: Solid ability to read grade stakes, understand layout plans, and utilize laster or GPS grading systems if required.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
