Diesel Mechanic / Shop Manager
Blase Trucking – St. Paul, Nebraska
Blase Trucking is a growing transportation company based in St. Paul, Nebraska, operating a fleet of approximately 50 trucks and trailers. Our equipment includes Peterbilt and Freightliner trucks, along with Wilson and Triunity trailers. We haul a variety of commodities and operate livestock trailers, belt trailers, grain trailers, and related equipment.
We are looking for a dependable, experienced, and organized Diesel Mechanic who wants the opportunity to take ownership of a shop, build systems, and help lead maintenance operations as our fleet continues to grow.
Position Overview
This is more than a mechanic position. We are looking for someone who can run the shop and make it their own while helping keep our equipment safe, reliable, and ready to work.
Responsibilities
The right candidate will help oversee day-to-day shop operations, including:
- Preventive maintenance on trucks and trailers
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues
- Trailer maintenance, including livestock trailers and belt trailers
- Brake, suspension, electrical, tire, and general truck/trailer repairs
- Coordinating outside repairs when necessary
- Maintaining organized maintenance records
- Scheduling repairs and maintenance to minimize downtime
- Maintaining a clean, efficient, and safe shop environment
- Working with drivers and management to identify equipment needs
- Helping develop and improve shop processes as the fleet grows
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working on semi-trucks and trailers
- Understands DOT inspections and safety requirements
- Can troubleshoot and solve problems independently
- Is organized and capable of managing shop priorities
- Takes pride in maintaining high-quality equipment
- Has leadership ability or previous shop management experience
- Is dependable, honest, and motivated to be part of a growing team
Preferred Experience
Experience with any of the following is a plus:
- Livestock trailers
- Belt trailers
- Hydraulics
- Air brake systems
- Diesel engines
- Welding and fabrication
- Electrical diagnostics and repair
