Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Diesel Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and industrial equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, brakes, air brake systems, and HVAC components on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and farm machinery.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, tire service, alignment checks, and electrical system troubleshooting using OEM schematics and service manuals.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding, soldering, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to ensure proper fit and function.
- Utilize heavy lifting equipment and power tools safely to disassemble and assemble machinery components during repairs or upgrades.
- Interpret technical schematics and electrical diagrams to accurately diagnose issues with Caterpillar or other OEM equipment models.
- Maintain detailed service records, repair logs, and inspection reports to ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot complex mechanical or electrical problems quickly while providing excellent customer service to internal clients or external customers.
Skills
- Proven dealership experience with heavy equipment repair is highly desirable.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, HVAC systems, suspension components, and brake systems.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and diagnostic tools for automotive diagnostics and electrical troubleshooting.
- Ability to read schematics, technical manuals, OEM specifications, and service bulletins effectively.
- Experience working with excavators, cranes, forklifts (including forklift certification), tractor-trailers, farm machinery, industrial equipment, and automotive repair is preferred.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation safety protocols including tire service and alignment procedures.
- Capable of heavy lifting safely while performing maintenance or repairs in various environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with strong customer service orientation; able to communicate clearly with team members and clients alike.
