Position Summary
The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain operations of Burch Farms, including planning, procurement, inventory management, logistics coordination, and customer fulfillment. This role ensures alignment between production, warehouse, and distribution functions to meet customer demand while minimizing cost and maximizing efficiency.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position plays a critical role in driving operational performance, improving visibility across the supply chain, and supporting the company’s growth strategy. The ideal candidate is analytical, hands-on, and capable of building scalable systems in a fast-paced agricultural environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupply Chain Planning & Coordination
- Develop and manage supply chain plans to align production, inventory, and customer demand
- Coordinate closely with production, warehouse, and sales teams to ensure seamless product flow
- Forecast demand and manage inventory levels to minimize shortages and excess
- Balance supply with seasonal production fluctuations
Procurement & Vendor Management
- Oversee procurement of materials, packaging, and supplies
- Manage relationships with vendors, carriers, and service providers
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service agreements to control costs
- Ensure timely availability of all inputs required for operations
Logistics & Distribution
- Coordinate transportation and distribution strategies for domestic and international shipments
- Optimize freight planning, routing, and carrier utilization
- Monitor logistics performance and resolve service issues
- Ensure compliance with shipping requirements and documentation
Inventory Management
- Establish and maintain accurate inventory systems and controls
- Monitor inventory turnover, shrinkage, and product quality
- Collaborate with warehouse leadership to ensure best practices in storage and handling
Process Improvement & Analytics
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels
- Develop and track KPIs across the supply chain (fill rate, on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, cost per unit, etc.)
- Implement systems, tools, and processes to improve visibility and decision-making
- Support lean initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Work cross-functionally with operations, warehouse, maintenance, and sales teams
- Help build a culture of accountability, communication, and continuous improvement
- Provide leadership and guidance to team members involved in supply chain activities
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all supply chain activities comply with food safety standards and regulatory requirements
- Support company policies related to safety, quality, and ethical business practices
Administrative Responsibilities
- Prepare reports, forecasts, and performance analyses for leadership
- Assist in budgeting and cost control initiatives
- Maintain accurate documentation and records across supply chain functions
Qualifications
- 7–10+ years of supply chain, logistics, or operations experience
- Experience in agriculture, food production, or perishable goods preferred
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with inventory systems, forecasting, and logistics coordination
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in produce packing and distribution
- Knowledge of international shipping and global supply chains
- Lean or continuous improvement experience
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
