American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist with neuro and multi-setting experience for a 13-week contract at an acute and inpatient rehab hospital in Austin, TX.

Work setting includes an inpatient rehabilitation (IPR) hospital, acute care hospital, and outpatient (OP) services
-
64-bed IPR unit and 400-bed acute hospital with full outpatient services
-
Staff of 160 across departments; direct patient care accounts for 75% of an 8-hour shift
-
Day shift schedule, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM, with 7- or 10-hour shifts on weekdays and weekends
-
Weekend rotation required based on weekly utilization — approximately 1–2 weekend days per 4 weeks

Neuro-focused patient population including spinal cord injury (SCI), brain injury (BI), and stroke rehab
-
Minimum 1 year of PT experience required; allied candidates must have at least 6 months of experience within the last 6 months in the role

Neuro background required, specifically SCI, brain injury, and stroke rehab
-
Experience in multiple settings — acute, IPR, and outpatient — required

Active PT license required where applicable

Current BLS certification required (AHA or ARC accepted); certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the start date

US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted

One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)

No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — no local candidates accepted

Responsibilities include following a provided patient schedule, coordinating with the interdisciplinary team, and meeting productivity standards

Preferred candidates will have familiarity with IPR post-acute guidelines and experience utilizing the CARE tool assessment

Ability to transition between multiple programs (IPR, acute, OP) on any given day is a plus

The facility holds HCA Center of Excellence designations for Stroke, SCI, and Amputee programs and is pursuing COE status for Brain Injury and Cancer programs; also Comprehensive Stroke Certified
