POSITION OVERVIEW
The Head Mechanic at Tradition Golf Club repairs and performs preventative maintenance of all golf course equipment and also supervises two Mechanics. Works alongside Assistant Superintendent and Director of Agronomy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Supervises two Mechanics.
- Repairs to all golf course equipment.
- Develops and carries out a preventative maintenance program.
- Lubricates and services all golf course maintenance equipment.
- Orders parts and maintains an inventory of parts commonly used.
- Repairs broken and failing equipment and performs routine maintenance.
- Inspects and diagnoses mechanical problems, and repairs trucks, sweepers, mowers, tractors and other golf course equipment.
- Overhaul engines, grinding valves, repair transmissions, differentials, carburetors, fuel pumps, steering systems, starters, generators, universal joints, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, batteries, tires and other mechanical problems.
- Must have the ability to arc weld and gas weld.
- Provides training on equipment care to the golf course crew.
- Inspect quality of cut occurring on the golf course.
- Reel and bed knife grinding.
- May perform job duties in the equipment operator category as needed.
- Repair and provide all required preventive maintenance on all equipment associated with Course Maintenance Department.
- Maintains the mechanic’s shop area in a clean, organized, and safe fashion daily.
- Communicates and reports any needs or problems relating to course equipment to the Director of Agronomy and Assistant Superintendents.
- Perform other job duties as instructed by the Director of Agronomy.

- Check fire extinguishers monthly

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans and directs repairs, maintenance to all golf course equipment and insures quality of the workmanship. Teach and train Mechanics on all aspects of maintenance and repairs.

Education and/or Experience
- 5 years’ experience as a golf course Mechanic.
Required Technical / Other Skills and Abilities
- Communicate in English and Spanish
