Duties
- Operate ground-penetrating radar (GPR) equipment and utility locating devices to identify underground utilities and structures with precision.
- Interpret site plans, blueprints, schematics, and construction plans to accurately mark underground utilities such as cables, pipes, and conduits.
- Conduct utility marking on construction sites by using vacuum excavation techniques for utility detection and verification.
- Communicate clearly with clients, contractors, and team members to relay findings and ensure project safety.
- Perform site plan interpretation and analyze schematics to support accurate utility location efforts.
- Operate company vehicles safely while traveling between job sites and ensure all equipment is maintained properly.
- Follow strict safety protocols at all times, adhering to industry standards for outdoor work environments and underground utility detection procedures.
Experience
- Proven experience as a service technician or field service technician working with utility locating or ground-penetrating radar equipment.
- Strong background in land surveying, utility marking, or construction site work within the energy or utilities sector.
- Familiarity with reading construction plans, blueprints, schematics, and site plans for accurate utility identification.
- Hands-on experience operating utility locating devices, ground-penetrating radar systems, backhoes, cabling tools, and vacuum excavation equipment.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to underground utility detection and construction site operations.
- Ability to operate company vehicles responsibly in outdoor environments while maintaining compliance with safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration in dynamic outdoor settings.
