Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)
Create and implement age-appropriate physical education lesson plans for each grade level, incorporating fitness and team building.
Plan and execute educational in-class and outdoor activities and events.
Promote physical activity, organize games, and discuss proper exercising and eating habits.
Assess and record students' progress and provide grades and feedback.
Collaborate with other teachers, parents and stakeholders and attend regular meetings.
Thorough knowledge of teaching physical education best practices and legal educational guidelines with a willingness to follow the school's policies and procedures
Maintain a tidy and orderly gym and equipment closet.
Develop and enrich professional skills and knowledge by attending seminars, conferences etc.
Qualifications
Full-time contract - 5 days/week, 10 months/year; this is a union position; salary is determined by college degree and years of service
Proven experience as a gym teacher.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Well organized, committed, creative, and energetic.
Comfortable using school technology.
