About the position:
Bananarchy is looking for a dependable, organized, and hands-on Assistant General Manager to oversee our equipment, facilities, inventory systems, and operational projects while also supporting production, customer service, and large events.
This is not primarily a desk job or a licensed maintenance-technician position. We need someone who can notice problems before they become emergencies, handle basic repairs, coordinate qualified vendors, and carry problems through resolution without requiring the owner to manage every step.
The position also includes working alongside the team, leading shifts, completing inventory shopping, preparing for catering and large events, and driving Bananarchy’s food truck. Responsibilities may look different each week, and the right person should be able to shift priorities and keep operations running smoothly even when things go a little bananas.
Responsibilities
Facilities and equipment:
- Maintain preventive-maintenance schedules, equipment records, manuals, warranties, and repair histories
- Regularly inspect our food trailers, food truck, refrigeration, appliances, plumbing fixtures, and other equipment
- Perform basic maintenance and repairs and determine when a qualified vendor is needed
- Schedule and oversee vendors and follow through until problems are resolved
- Maintain organized tools, replacement parts, and emergency supplies
- Coordinate approved repairs and upgrades within established budgets
- Respond promptly to urgent operational problems and carry them through resolution
Inventory and organization:
- Maintain inventory plans, par levels, ordering schedules, and organized storage systems
- Ensure ingredients, packaging, cleaning supplies, tools, and event equipment are available when needed
- Ensure weekly inventory shopping and supply pickups are completed, either personally or through properly supervised delegation
- Identify shortages, excess inventory, damaged items, and recurring waste
- Prepare and organize inventory and equipment for catering and large events
- Maintain accurate records in Google Sheets and other company systems
Operations, leadership, and customer service:
- Work and lead regular location shifts
- Train and support employees while reinforcing customer-service, food-safety, cleanliness, cash-handling, and operating standards
- Assist with production prep, catering, and large events
- Fill in for location, prep, catering, or large-event shifts when unexpected coverage is needed
- Safely drive Bananarchy’s food truck when needed
- Resolve customer questions and concerns calmly and appropriately
- Work closely with the owner and General Manager to coordinate priorities, staffing, inventory, maintenance, and events
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with coworkers and share important information promptly
- Use Bananarchy’s task-management and Discord systems consistently
What we are looking for
- Strong organization, judgment, and consistent follow-through
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort using basic hand and power tools
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and determine when outside help is needed
- Experience leading employees in food service, retail, events, facilities, or a similar environment
- Strong customer-service and communication skills
- Comfort using Google Workspace, especially Google Sheets
- Adaptability and comfort with responsibilities that may change from week to week
- Willingness to perform both management and hands-on operational work
- Calm, practical decision-making during urgent situations
- Reliable availability for approximately 40 hours per week, including some evenings, Saturdays, and large events
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds over short distances, bend, safely use a step ladder, and stand for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company vehicle insurance requirements
- Willingness and ability to drive Bananarchy’s food truck
- Reliable transportation suitable for traveling between locations and completing inventory shopping and supply pickups
- Ability to move inventory, supplies, and equipment as required
- Willingness to authorize a background check, driving record check, and pre-employment drug screening after receiving a conditional offer
Experience with commercial food equipment, refrigeration, food trucks, trailers, vehicles, inventory management, basic repairs, or vendor coordination is preferred. Licensed trade experience is not required.
Compensation
- Management, facilities, inventory, and prep work pays $21.50 per hour
- Tipped location, catering, and regular event shifts pay a base rate of $13.25-$14.50 per hour, depending on the assignment, plus tips and applicable commissions
Benefits and scheduling
- $180 monthly wellness stipend after waiting period
- Two weeks of accrued paid time off after waiting period
- Paid Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays
- A companywide one-week holiday break around Christmas
- Mileage reimbursement for eligible business driving
- Most Sundays off
