Headstart Health is looking for an experienced RCM billing leader to own day-to-day billing operations and help strengthen the function as we grow.
Headstart helps BCBAs build and run their own ABA practices. We provide operational support—including billing—so clinicians can focus more of their time on care.
We’re looking for someone with deep claims experience who can set priorities and lead the teams doing the work. This is also a hands-on role. You will work claims directly when needed, especially complex issues and areas where the team needs support.
You will build performance visibility, improve workflows, and use technology and AI to make the operation more efficient. You will partner closely with Headstart’s Senior Manager of RCM while owning claims strategy, team and vendor performance, and billing communication with providers.
What You’ll Own
- Day-to-day billing operations and overall claim health
- Hands-on claims work, including complex or high-impact cases
- Strategy across denials, appeals, rejections, aging AR, and payer follow-up
- Prioritization based on dollars, aging, risk, and provider impact
- Performance and accountability across internal teams and external billing partners
- Productivity tracking and reporting across the billing operation
- Identification of recurring claim and payer issues that need upstream solutions
- Clear billing updates and communication for providers
- Use of technology and AI to reduce manual work and improve workflows
What We’re Looking For
- Several years of hands-on medical billing and claims experience
- Strong knowledge of denials, appeals, AR follow-up, and payer escalation
- Experience leading billing teams, offshore teams, or external partners
- The willingness and ability to work claims while leading the broader operation
- Experience building dashboards, scorecards, or productivity reporting
- A record of improving billing workflows or team performance
- Interest in using AI tools as part of daily work
- Clear communication and comfort taking ownership in a growing company
Nice to Have
- Experience in ABA, behavioral health, or another authorization-intensive specialty
- Experience with Medicaid and commercial insurance
- Familiarity with Candid or another RCM platform
- Experience with Excel, Google Sheets, SQL, BI tools, or workflow automation

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
