Position Overview
Cornerstone Lutheran Preschool is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and energetic After Care Teacher to lead our afternoon care program for children ages 2–5. In this role, you will supervise children after their preschool day by monitoring nap time, providing engaging activities and free play, assisting with snack time, and ensuring children are safely dismissed to their families.
This part-time position follows the school-year calendar and is ideal for retirees, college students, parents with school-aged children, or anyone seeking consistent and rewarding afternoon hours.
Position Details
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1:00 PM-5:30 or 3:00 PM–5:30 PM
- School Year: Follows the local school calendar
- Pay: $15.00 per hour
- Location: Cornerstone Lutheran Church & Preschool, 6100 N. Raceway Road, Indianapolis, IN 46234
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome children into the After Care program and provide a safe, nurturing environment at the end of the school day.
- Supervise children ages 2–5 while maintaining a kind, organized, and engaging atmosphere.
- Plan and facilitate age-appropriate activities, crafts, games, and supervised free play.
- Serve snacks in accordance with preschool policies and monitor children during snack time.
- Model Christian values through kindness, patience, respect, and encouraging interactions.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom by tidying toys, tables, and activity areas before dismissal.
- Communicate with parents and guardians during pick-up and ensure each child is released only to authorized individuals.
- Follow all preschool safety procedures and licensing requirements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience caring for toddlers or preschool-aged children in a preschool, daycare, church nursery, or similar setting is strongly preferred.
- Ability to pass all required background checks and fingerprint screening in accordance with Indiana childcare regulations.
- CPR and First Aid certification required (training may be provided upon hire).
- Demonstrated reliability, patience, flexibility, and a warm, welcoming demeanor.
- Ability to supervise active young children, communicate effectively with families and staff, and work independently.
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
