We are seeking a skilled, dependable, and motivated Marine Mechanic to join our growing team. This is a hands-on position for an experienced mechanic who takes pride in diagnosing problems, completing quality repairs, and keeping boats and marine systems operating safely and reliably.
The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills, experience working with gasoline and/or diesel engines, and the ability to diagnose electrical, hydraulic, propulsion, and other onboard systems. Marine-specific experience is preferred, but candidates with strong experience in automotive, diesel, heavy equipment, military, commercial, or industrial mechanical work are also encouraged to apply.
Pay
$20–$50 per hour, based on experience, skill level, certifications, and qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair marine engines and vessel systems.
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, seasonal service, and preventative maintenance.
- Diagnose and repair gasoline and diesel engines, propulsion systems, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and onboard components.
- Identify mechanical and electrical problems and determine appropriate repair solutions.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, technical manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
- Install, repair, and replace marine components and equipment.
- Perform marine rigging and equipment installation while maintaining proper alignment and safety standards.
- Use diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, soldering equipment, and other shop equipment.
- Assist with vessel assembly, disassembly, repowering, and equipment installation projects.
- Safely lift, move, and handle equipment, parts, and materials as required.
- Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, and work logs.
- Communicate clearly with team members regarding repairs, parts needs, and project progress.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Follow company safety procedures and marine industry best practices.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Marine Mechanic, Marine Technician, Service Technician, Diesel Mechanic, Automotive Technician, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, or similar mechanical role.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic ability.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing engines and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical problems.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, technical manuals, and service documentation.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
- Welding, fabrication, rigging, or sheet metal experience is a plus.
- Experience with military, commercial, industrial, automotive, or heavy equipment systems is a plus.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting and moving heavy equipment and materials.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to producing quality work.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
