American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Surgical ICU/CSU (CSICU/CSU) day shift position in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring 2 years of recent CVICU experience and an active AL or compact RN license.

Day shift position, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, in a Cardiac Surgical ICU (CSICU) and Cardiac Stepdown Unit (CSU) setting

CSICU is a 4-bed unit specializing in adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, thoracic, vascular, and other surgical conditions requiring critical care
-
CSU is an 8-bed stepdown unit focused on post-operative care and recovery of cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgery patients
-
Care is primarily focused on post-operative recovery and complex invasive hemodynamic monitoring
-
Both units are supported by a cardiovascular educator
-
Schedule requires working every other weekend

Holiday coverage required as assigned

Floating to other units and hospitals is required

Charting via Meditech EMR (experience preferred but not required)

13-week contract

Active AL RN license or compact RN license currently in hand — no pending or temporary licenses accepted

No hits (past or current) on nursing license allowed

NURSYS verification required

Certifications required: AHA or Red Cross BLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Minimum 2 years of experience, with at least 1 year of recent CVICU specialty experience

Associate degree in nursing (ADN) or higher required
-
Active state or compact RN license, current driver's license, and two professional references from within the last year required for consideration

Nurses are expected to exhibit high levels of professional competency in managing complex cardiac surgical patients
-
Both units take a patient-centered approach to care in a safe and secure environment
-
All ICU RNs are required to complete an on-site assessment test in addition to an online pre-test
-
Virtual orientation will include competency-based modules — no HealthStream modules required prior to start
-
Timekeeping is managed through Centricity
-
Solid navy scrubs required
