Journey Transport is a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with locations throughout California. We have immediate openings and are currently seeking reliable and experienced drivers to join our team as Wheelchair Van Drivers/Transportation Specialists (non-ambulance) to provide services at our Sacramento, CA locations.
We provide Non-Emergency Specialty Transportation to folks who require a little extra attention, support, and time to get to and from their medical appointments within the local Veterans Healthcare system.
We are currently hiring for full-time positions. Benefits are available for full-time personnel after completion of our Introductory/Evaluation period (approx 3 months). Applicants must be flexible with their availability, and able to work a varying schedule including Saturdays and some Sundays. We typically are able to create our transportation schedule only 12-hours in advance, and schedule our drivers accordingly.
Currently, regular shifts occur Monday-Saturday and generally begin between 2am and 2pm and usually last approximately 8+ hours, although shifts are frequently extended due to call volume. Sundays we utilize on-call drivers on a rotating schedule which all of our staff participate in.
Full-time employees can expect to initially work 4-5 days per week on a varying schedule which may differ from day to day. Employees will often be required to work weekends, holidays, and on-call/night shifts. This position is NOT a good fit for those with very limited availability, or individuals whose require a regular set schedule or set off-times.
Employee availability is very important to us as our scheduled changes very frequently. Applicants are required to be fully available Monday-Saturday. You will sometimes be required to work on Saturdays and or Sundays.
We require the following qualifications;
- over 21 years old with clean driving record
- must be flexible wit shifts as start times will change and days off may change
- minimum 3 year’s driving experience
- familiar with local road/freeway systems
- clean criminal history, we do perform background checks on all employees prior to employment and training
- ability to pass a driver physical and drug screening (including marijuana)
- must be reliable and dependable

Job Type: Full-Time with Benefits available AFTER a 90 day Introductory/Evaluation Period depending on availability and company necessity.
Pay: Up to $19.03-$21.50 per hour

We utilize hospital-grade disinfectant to thoroughly clean our vehicles after each transport as necessary. We also provide gloves and masks for our employees.

Responsibilities
- Safely operate a wheelchair van to transport passengers to and from designated locations.
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting passengers with boarding and disembarking, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Maintain the vehicle's cleanliness and perform routine checks to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Communicate effectively with passengers and dispatch to coordinate pick-up and drop-off times.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving.
Pay: $19.03 - $21.50 per hour
