There is no civil service test in the state of Georgia, and the hiring process typically takes 90 days or less.There is no civil service test in the state of Georgia. The Gwinnett County Police Department is the second largest agency in Georgia, and we pay our recruits their salary while going through training to become certified Law Enforcement Officers.
This is a special opportunity to complete the entire first phase of the two-phase hiring process. Conditional job offers may be given during this event. Those attending will complete some or all of the following: a physical ability test, an orientation, a more detailed application, and an oral interview. The entire process typically takes two to three hours, although it may take longer. It is suggested you bring water and a snack.
Once your Indeed application has been received, a recruiter will email you the information to get you set up with the event application. Once you complete the event application, your assigned investigator will call to set up an appointment time for the event. Those who have submitted applications but do not have an appointment are still welcome, although wait times will be longer.
Salary:
**Hiring incentive for new hires up to 10% of the base salary**
$55,923 with possible incentives up to
$57,600 (includes a 3% pay incentive for an associate's degree)
$59,278 (includes a 6% pay incentive for a bachelor's degree)
The Gwinnett County Police Department is a nationally accredited and rapidly growing police agency located in the northeastern quadrant of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The Department has an authorized strength of 930 sworn officers and 129 communications officers supported by 167 civilian employees, with the responsibility of providing law enforcement services to approximately one million residents within an area of 436 square miles. The department is a full-service agency with numerous specialized units, including Computer Forensics, K-9, Aviation, Technology Research, Accident Investigations, Training, S.W.A.T., Crime Prevention, Hazardous Devices, and many more.
Employees are trained to become Police Officers. Applicants must pass a series of tests and interviews before selection as employees. Once selected, individuals must complete academy requirements and, if successful, continue with field training under the guidance of veteran officers (PO Master or Corporals). This job requires a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Gwinnett County's Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace.
