Role Description
The Bakery Clerk is a full-time, on-site role based at Fern & Aurora Dessert Shop in Queens, NY. This role is responsible for helping customers pick out what they would like to eat, boxing or plating the items, running the cashier, and helping the bakers as needed and helping to organize and replenish product displays. The Bakery Clerk supports food preparation tasks, maintains cleanliness and safety standards in the work and service areas, and ensures products are properly labeled and stocked. Daily responsibilities also include greeting customers, answering product questions, processing transactions, and providing courteous, efficient service at the counter. The role involves close collaboration with bakers and other staff to keep the bakery running smoothly and to deliver a consistently positive experience for every guest.

Additional Qualifications
- Knowledge of making coffee drinks is a major plus, but not required. What is required is the desire and ability to learn how to prepare our menu of beverages.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines; ServSafe or similar certification is a plus.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience in a bakery, café, or food service setting is preferred but not required; willingness to learn is essential.
- Experience in bakery environments, including familiarity with bakery operations and basic baking practices, is a significant plus—but again, not required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
