Job Purpose: The Staff Nurse (RN) is a professional care provider who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients. The Staff Nurse (RN) will provide care to those patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation and coordination with other health care team members, taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs. Work is performed in accordance with established hospital policies, work rules, nursing department/unit standards, regulatory and accreditation requirements and consistent with the philosophy, goals and the mission of the hospital and nursing department. Coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, and provides leadership by working cooperatively with other disciplines in maintaining standards for professional nursing and hospital practice in the clinical setting, taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs.
Education: Graduation form an accredited nursing program.
Preferred: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Possess current New York State license for Registered Nurse. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be obtained within six (6) months of transfer or hire. American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within the first year of employment.
Experience: None
Preferred: One or more years' experience in acute care nursing. American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
