Job Title: Manager of Portfolio of Landlord Tenant Cases

Summary/Objective:
Dolphin Property Services is a real estate property management company specializing in affordable housing properties. We are a growing New York-based Property Management firm looking for a Manager of Portfolio of Landlord Tenant Cases. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local housing laws; manages outside legal counsel; and provides strategic and operational guidance regarding the processes for collecting rents and initiating holdover cases. The ideal candidate has strong experience in landlord tenant disputes including holdovers and nonpayment matters.
Essential function/Responsibilities: duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop and oversee the company’s legal strategy, policies, and procedures to support outside counsel representing the property owners in L&T court
- Provide legal guidance on landlord tenant matters
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local housing laws, including fair housing, landlord-tenant laws, and rent regulations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate settlement stipulations.
- Manage all litigation, claims, and disputes related to tenants.
- Coordinate and oversee outside counsel as it relates to the prosecution of holdover and non-payment cases.
- Identify potential areas of legal exposure and implement proactive risk mitigation strategies.
- Develop and maintain policies and training programs to improve collections.
- Support property managers and operations teams with legal and compliance questions or escalations.
- Review and update standard operating procedures, contracts, and forms used across the portfolio regarding collections and landlord tenant matters.
- Monitor changes in landlord tenant related policies, procedures and laws.
- Represent the company in landlord tenant court.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or 10+ years of legal experience, with at least 5 years in real estate, property management, or housing law.
- Strong understanding of fair housing, rent stabilization, and landlord-tenant regulations.
- Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
