Job Summary
Reporting to the Controller (or Finance Manager), the Senior Staff Accountant plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records. This position is responsible for supporting the month-end and year-end close processes, maintaining the general ledger, preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous process improvement while supporting the organization's financial growth.
Responsibilities include:
- General Accounting
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain supporting documentation.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare financial statements and schedules for management review.
- Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Compliance and Audit
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Assist external audits by preparing requested schedules and documentation.
Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Support
- Review and monitor AP and AR processes for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with cash management, banking transactions, and treasury activities.
- Monitor aging reports and assist with collections when necessary.
Process Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and strengthen controls.
- Document accounting procedures and best practices.
Collaboration
- Partner with Finance, Operations, Procurement, Trading, and other departments to resolve accounting issues.
- Assist leadership with special projects.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
Experience
- 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of GAAP.
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and VLOOKUP’s
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
Who You Are
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
Experience
- 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.

Pay: Up to $80,000.00 per year
