The Honest Truth (No Sugar-Coating)
I'm going to tell you upfront what most agencies bury in the fine print. You have to spend money to make money in this business. Here's exactly what getting started looks like:
- Interview first. We talk. I make sure you're actually the right fit for this before you spend a dollar.
- Complete required webinars and trainings. You'll receive a voucher code that makes the courses free.
- Pass the state license test. The exams cost $90 total (both tests) each attempt.
- Get your Illinois license. The initial license fee runs roughly $200–$300, renewed yearly. You'll be getting a LOT of training during this entire phase — you won't be doing it alone.
- Get on the phones. Once licensed, it's go time.
- Lead spend. I recommend coming in with $1,500–$2,000 set aside for quality leads. Quality leads are the fuel of this business — this is your investment in your own pipeline, and it's the difference between grinding and winning.
