360 Vascular Institute | Dublin, Ohio
Full-Time | 12–15 Month Commitment | Approximately 4.5 Days/Week
360 Vascular Institute is seeking an exceptional recent college graduate for our Clinical Scholars Program, a highly selective, paid 12–15 month gap-year experience designed for students preparing to attend medical school. We are currently selecting our second Clinical Scholar.
A Different Kind of Gap Year
This is not a traditional medical assistant, scribe, or shadowing position.
The Clinical Scholars Program is intentionally small and immersive, providing a rare inside look at real-world clinical practice. Scholars work side-by-side with the physician and clinical team, seeing how patients are evaluated, how clinical decisions are made, how procedures are performed, and how an independent medical practice actually operates.
Teaching is integrated into the experience every day. Clinical Scholars are expected to contribute, not simply observe, and are given increasing responsibility as their knowledge and skills develop.
Direct Physician Mentorship
You will work closely with Deepak Sudheendra, MD (aka Dr. Sudi), a vascular and interventional radiologist who spent more than a decade on the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he built and led one of the nation's largest programs dedicated to complex venous and thrombotic disease.
Dr. Sudheendra has extensive experience teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees.
What You'll Experience
- Work directly alongside the physician and clinical team
- Participate in patient visits and learn clinical documentation
- Assist with minimally invasive vascular and interventional procedures
- Gain exposure to vascular ultrasound, imaging, diagnosis, and treatment
- Participate in longitudinal patient care
- Participate in clinical projects, research, education, and practice initiatives
- Learn the business of medicine and how an independent medical practice and office-based procedural center operate
- Develop communication, leadership, and professional skills
- Take on increasing responsibility as your skills develop
- Receive direct physician mentorship and medical school/career guidance throughout your gap year
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for a highly motivated, intellectually curious individual who works hard, learns quickly, takes initiative, and genuinely wants to understand medicine beyond traditional shadowing.
Applicants should:
- Be a recent college graduate planning to apply to medical school
- Have a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.5
- Commit to the full 12–15 month program
- Be available approximately 4.5 days per week
- Demonstrate exceptional work ethic, maturity, professionalism, communication skills, and attention to detail
- Be comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment and taking on meaningful responsibility
- Obtain American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider certification prior to starting; current certification is not required to apply
Admission to the 360 Vascular Clinical Scholars Program is highly selective. Strong academic performance is important, but we are equally interested in character, intellectual curiosity, work ethic, initiative, and a genuine commitment to becoming an exceptional physician.
Compensation
- $15/hour initially
- $18/hour after 6 months
- $20/hour after 12 months
Pay progression is based on continued strong performance and increasing responsibility.
Upon Successful Completion
Clinical Scholars who successfully complete the program will receive:
- Certificate of Completion from the 360 Vascular Institute Clinical Scholars Program
- A documented record of their clinical, procedural, scholarly, and professional experiences
- Continued medical school and career mentorship
- For select Scholars who demonstrate exceptional performance, professionalism, and commitment, a personalized letter of recommendation from Dr. Sudheendra for medical school
Letters of recommendation are earned through performance and are not guaranteed by participation in the program.
How to Apply
Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter (maximum 500 words) to:
[email protected]
In your cover letter, please address:
Why are you pursuing a gap year before medical school, why does the 360 Vascular Clinical Scholars Program specifically interest you, and what do you hope to contribute and learn during the program?
Please include your cumulative undergraduate GPA on your resume.
Candidates selected for an interview will be asked to provide an unofficial undergraduate transcript.
For the right student, this is much more than a gap-year job. It is an opportunity to experience medicine from the inside, gain substantial clinical and procedural exposure, learn directly from an experienced physician educator, and develop an understanding of patient care and medical practice that most students do not encounter until much later in their training.
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
